Shadell Bell was forced to miss about half of his senior season at Columbia High School because of a hamstring injury.
As a result, the three-star wide receiver finished his senior season with just 24 catches for 350 yards and three touchdowns.
“Right now, I’m just taking it easy and chilling…I’m just taking it lightly and staying off of it,” Bell told TheClemsonInsider.
On Friday, he’ll head up to Clemson for his official visit.
“Just get up there and spending time with everybody, just seeing how it’s going to feel for my official…ready to get up there with the coaches and just chill with the early enrollees,” Bell said.
Along with Bell, Kelly Bryant, Tucker Israel, Sterling Johnson, Zach Giella, Noah Green, Mitch Hyatt, Van Smith, Kaleb Chalmers and Tanner Muse will be in Clemson on official visit this weekend. Four-star defensive tackle Christian Wilkins will be the lone non-committed prospect taking in town on official.
Bell is in the most contact with Johnson and Austin Bryant, who won’t enroll until the summer.
Among the Clemson coaches that Bell talks to the most: Marion Hobby, his area recruiter, and Jeff Scott, his future position coach.
“They’re just ready for me to get up there so I can learn a lot from Mike (Williams) and just listening to them, just doing what they need me to do, but they said I can learn a lot from Mike and do what he does when he leaves, or even compete next year,” Bell said.
The 6-3, 190-pound prospect is impressed with what he’s seen from Clemson this year.
“The biggest part is that they’ve beaten adversity with losing Deshaun (Watson) and Cole (Stoudt) coming up shaky with the shoulder,” Bell said. “But, just seeing how they fight back and continue to win — even though they lost last week — I still have faith in them. They’ll finish out the season strong.”
