Clemson is in a good position with 2018 five-star linebacker Teradja Mitchell as he prepares to narrow his recruitment in a couple of months.

The Virginia Beach (Va.) Bishop Sullivan Catholic standout who holds over 30 offers plans to release a list of his top 10 schools on Feb. 1.

The Clemson Insider recently spoke with Mitchell about Clemson and his recruitment.

“Yes sir they are,” Mitchell said when asked if Clemson is in good standing right now. “I love the way their defense plays. I feel like it’s a great fit for me. I loved the campus when I visited. It felt like a place I could call home.”

Mitchell has offers from Alabama, Auburn, Florida, Florida State, Georgia, LSU, Michigan, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Tennessee, Virginia, Virginia Tech and many others.

The 6-foot-3, 230-pounder visited Clemson in July and said he wants to get back on campus at some point.

“I loved Clemson,” Mitchell said. “Excited to see the new facilities when I go back.”

Mitchell has been in touch with Clemson defensive coordinator and linebackers coach Brent Venables.

“I’ve been talking to coach Venables,” he said. “Starting to build a strong relationship with him.”

Mitchell added that he is fond of Clemson’s coaching staff overall.

“I loved what the coaches are about and the goals they have for all of their players,” he said. “They not only focus on football, but life after football.”

Mitchell said he is hearing the most from Clemson, Florida State, Ohio State and Alabama.

He doesn’t have any visits scheduled for the offseason right now, but said he has some schools in mind.

Mitchell is rated by 247Sports as the No. 2 prospect in Virginia, the nation’s No. 1 inside linebacker and the nation’s No. 27 overall prospect in the 2018 class.
