The Clemson Insider looks back at Clemson’s 1-0 win over Boston College on Saturday afternoon at the University of Rhode Island’s Bill Beck Field.

What happened?

Neither team could get anything going offensively all day, but the Tigers (19-4, 7-1 ACC) finally broke the scoreless tie in the seventh. Logan Davidson led off with a walk and moved to second on a wild pitch. Following a walk to Andrew Cox and a sac bunt from Drew Wharton, pinch hitter Robert Jolly hit a grounder to third and Davidson just beat the throw home. Clemson starter Alex Eubanks kept the Eagles (7-13, 1-7) off balance all day, allowing three hits with 10 strikeouts in a complete game effort.

Game-Changing Moment:

The game changed in the seventh inning. After a pitcher’s duel for six innings, the Tigers finally got something cooking with two runners in scoring position and only one out. Jolly put the ball in play and Davidson came home with the only run of the game.

What went right?

Eubanks was outstanding, throwing a complete game and tying his career high in strikeouts (10). Defensively, Clemson played well behind him as they did not commit an error. On offense, only Drew Wharton and Grayson Byrd picked up hits while Davidson drew two walks.

What went wrong?

The bats went completely cold as the Tigers only tallied two hits in the game. They did draw seven walks so ended up stranding seven runners in the contest as well.
