TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — Twenty fifth-ranked Florida State jumped on No. 4 Clemson early and then cruised to a 7-3 victory Sunday afternoon at Dick Howser Field in Tallahassee, Fla.

Alex Eubanks got the start for the Tigers but ran into trouble early. The sophomore went three innings giving up six hits and seven runs. All seven runs were earned. Alex Schnell came in to start the fourth and pitched a gem going four innings and giving up only three hits and no runs.

Once again the Tigers (30-6, 14-3 ACC) took the early lead. Chase Pinder led off with a single to start the game, and then Reed Rohlman was hit by a pitch. Logan Davidson hit a long fly that moved Pinder to third, and Chris Williams singled to score plate him for a 1-0 lead.

Clemson could have scored more but it couldn’t deliver with the bases loaded and one out. The lead didn’t last long for the Tigers as Florida State plated four runs of its own in the bottom of the first to take a 4-1 lead, which as it turned out was all it needed.

The Seminoles (22-15, 8-9 ACC) added three more runs in the third with a three-run home run from David Busby for a 7-1 lead.

The Tigers added another run in the fifth when Pinder walked with two outs and Rohlman singled advancing Pinder to third. Davidsson then singled to score Pinder to make the score 7-2.

For the second day in a row Seth Beer hit a lead-off home run. Beer’s bomb in the sixth, his 11th on the season, cut the Florida State lead to 7-3, which turned out to be the final score.

Clemson and the Seminoles will decide the series on Monday at 7 p.m. in Game 3 of the series.
