Laurel (Md.) St. Vincent Pallotti running back Blake Corum and defensive end/outside linebacker Coziah Izzard visited Clemson for the first time in March, and a month later, received a visit from Clemson defensive coordinator Brent Venables and defensive line coach Todd Bates.

On Monday, the first day Clemson’s staff hit the road during the ongoing spring evaluation period, the two coaches stopped by the school to check out the two teammates that own over a dozen scholarship offers between them as freshmen.

Corum, who already had a few offers in hand before earning several more during a standout first season on varsity, liked seeing the defending national champions on his school’s campus.

“It was a good visit,” he said, “just knowing that the national champs were at our school.”

Toledo, Temple and Rutgers were first to offer Corum when he was an eighth-grader last May. North Carolina, South Carolina and Maryland followed with offers at the beginning of his freshman season in September, before East Carolina and Michigan State offered in December and January, respectively. Pittsburgh extended his most recent offer this week.

Corum (5-9, 180) opened eyes of schools around the country, including Clemson, as he rushed for 1,001 yards on 102 carries (9.8 average) with 18 touchdowns last season.

“They like my highlights,” Corum said of what he heard from Venables and Bates this week, “and they’re going to be back.”

Corum visited North Carolina in January before attending Clemson’s junior day with Izzard on March 4. Clemson wants to get him and Izzard back on campus for the Dabo Swinney Camp this summer.

Corum is impressed by what Clemson has to offer.

“All the coaches seem like they love the game and love the players,” he said. “The facilities were super nice as well.”
