Clemson wide receiver Artavis Scott signed a free agent contract on Saturday with the Los Angeles Chargers after not being drafted in the 2017 NFL Draft.
In all, Clemson had six players selected in the draft, which started with Mike Williams who was taken No. 7 overall by the Chargers on Thursday, while Watson was selected at No. 12 by the Houston Texans.
Three former Tigers were been taken on Saturday in the draft. Running back Wayne Gallman went No. 140 in the fourth round to the New York Giants. Defensive tackle Carlos Watkins was picked at No. 142 to the Houston Texans in the fourth round as well, and then tight end Jordan Leggett in the fifth round to the New York Jets with pick 150.
An All-ACC receiver in his three seasons at Clemson, Scott became the Tigers’ career leader with 245 receptions, which is fifth in ACC history.
Scott also had 2,458 yards and 19 touchdowns in over 43 career games. He finished his Clemson career with 38 straight games with a reception, a school record. He had six games of at least 100 yards. He had 19 career receptions.
Last year, Scott caught 76 passes for 614 yards and five touchdowns. Scott had over 900 receiving yards the previous two seasons and led the Tigers in both years as well in receptions.
Scott’s best game last season was his 13 catches for 125 yards and a touchdown against Pitt. The best game of his career came against rival South Carolina when he had seven catches for 185 yards and two touchdowns, including a 70-yard touchdown.
He also had eight catches for 114 yards and a 65-yard touchdown on the first play of the game in the Tigers’ win over Oklahoma in the 2014 Russell Athletic Bowl.
