Impressive Florida back to get visit from Elliott

Lehigh Acres (Fla.) Lehigh Senior 2018 running back Chris Curry has a highlight tape that speaks for itself with a reel of breakaway runs showing off his big-play ability.

After rushing for 1,237 yards and 13 touchdowns as a junior, the 5-foot-11, 200-pounder with a blend of power and speed has added offers from major programs including LSU, Michigan, Ole Miss, Oregon, Southern Cal and Tennessee.

Clemson invited Curry to the Dabo Swinney Camp in 2015 when he was a rising sophomore, and his strong showing there put him on the radar of other Division I programs.

The Tigers have tracked Curry since. He returned to Clemson for its junior day in March, and running backs coach Tony Elliott remains in periodic contact.

“I’ve just been talking to him, building this relationship, because it’s about relationships in the recruiting world,” Curry told The Clemson Insider.

Elliott has expressed his intent to further evaluate Curry at his school during the ongoing spring evaluation period, which runs through May 31.

“He said he’s going to be down in a couple of weeks,” Curry said. “He’s making his way down, hitting all the states, but he said he’s going to be down as soon as he can.”

Along with the aforementioned programs, Curry carries offers from Florida, Miami, Maryland, North Carolina, Rutgers, South Florida, Syracuse, Western Kentucky and Wisconsin.

He said Clemson would jump to the top of his list with an offer.

“They would definitely be in the top five,” Curry said.

What sticks out to him about Clemson?

“They’re huge on family,” he said, “and they have respect for each other.”

Curry cited LSU as the school recruiting him the hardest right now. He didn’t name any favorites and doesn’t plan to cut down his recruitment until closer to signing day.
