Four-star wide receiver Nolan Groulx was one of the standout performers at the Dabo Swinney Camp in June, and the class of 2019 prospect from Cornelius (N.C.) Hough has been in contact with Clemson receivers coach Jeff Scott since.

Groulx likes the feedback he’s gotten from Scott, who sees him in the mold of current Tigers receiver Hunter Renfrow.

“We’ve been talking periodically. He can see me playing the Hunter Renfrow role on the team, that slot player with sure hands,” Groulx said. “He likes how technically sound I am, and I’m sure that’s probably what he likes about Hunter, so he’s compared me to him. It was good to hear that because obviously he’s a big role player on their team.”

As a sophomore last season, Groulx racked up more than 100 receptions for over 1,800 yards and 24 touchdowns.

Groulx (5-11, 185) received individual attention from Scott at the Swinney Camp.

“He separated me, and I got to work with him one-on-one,” Groulx said. “He likes my quickness in and out of my routes. He hasn’t got a chance to speed my speed as much because they don’t really test the 40s (40-yard dashes), but he likes the way I run routes, and I showed out in one-on-ones at camp. Coach Swinney got to see me, too, so it worked out well.”

Before being invited to the camp, Groulx attended Clemson’s junior day in March.

He plans to return to campus for a game this season with teammate Tyus Fields, a cornerback who received his first offer from Clemson in May 2016.

“I’m definitely getting up to Clemson for a game. Me and coach Scott have talked about that along with coach (Danny) Pearman,” Groulx said. “This will be my first game-day visit. I’ll probably go up there with my friend Tyus. We’ll probably head up there, so it should be fun.”

Groulx holds offers from N.C. State, South Carolina, Wake Forest, West Virginia and Wisconsin among others, while schools such as Clemson, Florida State and Penn State are showing significant interest.

If the Tigers pull the trigger on an offer, Groulx said they would be in great shape with him.

“Clemson would definitely be at the top, just how much they win and the kind of athletes they bring in and their family atmosphere there,” he said. “They’d definitely be at the top of my list.”

Groulx intends to visit South Carolina this season, as well, and said Florida State and Wisconsin could also get visits.
