Field goals and extra points this season will mean even more than usual to Clemson kicker commitment B.T. Potter.

The Rock Hill (S.C.) South Pointe High standout is partnering with Kick-It for Cancer to raise money to support childhood cancer patients.

Kick-It, a program of Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation (ALSF), is a national volunteer-driven effort focused exclusively on donating money for childhood cancer research.

“I go to this camp called Kohl’s Kicking. It was back in May, and before our camp, a lady introduced us to it,” Potter told The Clemson Insider. “Every time I score a point, or the other kicker at my school, if you pledge to it you donate a dollar or however much you want to. Or you can just donate money whenever you’d like, and all the money at the end of the season goes toward childhood cancer.”

Potter jumped on the opportunity to help others when he found out about the campaign.

“Definitely just trying to help out the community,” Potter said. “Just realizing it’s not all about me, it’s helping everybody.”

Expect Potter to do his part for the cause. Potter, who committed to Clemson in June, is ranked as the nation’s No. 1 kicker according to the Chris Sailer Kicking rankings. He was also recently named a preseason All-American by Chris Sailer Kicking.

Potter hopes to help South Pointe win a fourth consecutive state championship this season — and make a difference in the lives of others at the same time.

“It’s more than just me now,” he said. “I’m helping other people.”
