Trapp commits to Clemson

On Sunday afternoon, Daniel High School senior cornerback Amir Trapp told TCI that he is committed to Clemson.

The son of former Clemson standout James Trapp, the younger Trapp was picked to represent South Carolina in last month’s Shrine Bowl. That week, Trapp indicated that he was deciding between the greyshirt offer from Clemson and a standard offer from Furman.

But, on New Year’s Eve, Trapp opted to commit to Clemson.

“It’s a great platform to get noticed at the NFL level,” Trapp told TCI, during Shrine Bowl week. “Clemson has a lot of good prospects every year that go on to the NFL. The good thing about it is they all get their degree, too. I like that part.”

James serves as the FCA Director for Clemson University. After starring at cornerback for the Tigers, he went on to a successful career in the NFL, during which he won a Super Bowl with the Ravens.

TCI will have more from Amir later this evening.
