One of the priority targets Clemson will play host to on Saturday for its top-15 clash with Auburn is five-star wide receiver Justyn Ross.

The Phenix City (Ala.) Central standout will be accompanied by his talented teammate, 2019 defensive back Ray Thornton.

It will mark the first game-day visit to Clemson for both prospects.

“We both are excited for the visit,” Thornton told The Clemson Insider. “It’s a great school. We are looking forward to the experience.”

Thornton has an offer from Mississippi State, while he is drawing interest from Clemson, Alabama, Auburn and Vanderbilt among others.

He is no stranger to Clemson having visited for the Dabo Swinney Camp on several occasions, including this past June, and the Tigers have made a strong impression.

“I like the fact that they stay together as a whole,” Thornton said of Clemson. “It’s like a family when I’m there. It relates to me because I come from a place where we stay together as a family through good times and bad times.

“My interest level is high. I love the school with and without football.”

The same could be said for the interest level of Ross, who named Clemson one of his top five schools in June along with Alabama, Auburn, Florida and Florida State.

Ross visited Clemson for the first time in April after receiving an offer from the Tigers a month earlier. He returned to Tiger Town in June with his mother after she returned home from national guard duty in Kuwait.

“He thinks it’s a good school and they have a good program,” Thornton said. “This will be his first time going to a game. He’s excited about going.”

Ross is ranked by Rivals as the nation’s No. 2 wide receiver and a top-20 overall prospect in the 2018 class. Thornton joined Ross at Central after transferring from Columbus (Ga. ) over the offseason.
