Clemson ‘just skyrocketed’ in recruitment of 5-star Georgia commit

One of the headlining prospects in attendance for Clemson’s top-15 victory over Auburn on Saturday was five-star Georgia commitment Jadon Haselwood.

Haselwood, the nation’s top-ranked offensive player in the class of 2019, experienced Death Valley for the first time.

“It was very exciting,” Haselwood told The Clemson Insider. “I liked the atmosphere. All the fans were loud the whole game. It was pretty cool to witness.”

Haselwood (6-3, 180) was able to check out Clemson’s football operations complex upon his arrival to the school.

“I got a tour when I got there,” he said. “It was pretty nice, man.”

Making the visit even more enjoyable for Haselwood was the fact he received an offer from Clemson while on campus.

“It’s pretty big to me,” he said. “I’ve been watching Clemson and playing with Clemson on NCAA since I was young, so that was pretty cool.”

Haselwood had the chance to chop it up with Clemson receivers coach Jeff Scott before the Tigers’ 14-6 win.

“Really I just asked him a few questions, and I asked him what was going to be the first four plays and stuff like that, just trying to converse a little bit,” Haselwood said.

Haselwood, who committed to Georgia back in March, said he remains firm on his pledge to the Bulldogs right now.

“I’m solid until I see something different,” he said.

“Clemson’s a good program,” he continued. “I’ve still got a lot of interest in them of course.”

With that said, Clemson certainly made a move with the elite recruit.

“They just skyrocketed,” Haselwood said when asked where Clemson stands in his recruitment after the visit.

Along with Clemson and Georgia, Haselwod holds offers from Alabama, Auburn, Florida, Florida State, LSU, Miami, Michigan, Ohio State, Oklahoma, UCLA, USC and Tennessee among others.

He is ranked as the No. 1 receiver in the 2019 class and a top-five national prospect regardless of position.
