Clemson is on its way to going without a running back in the 2015 signing class. And, the way it looks right now, the Tigers will add just in 2016.

The 2017 haul, which could be close to a full class, should be a little bit heavier on running back.

Trey Sermon, one of the top sophomore running backs in Georgia, is one of the few early prospects to watch. The 6-foot-1, 190-pound prospect from Marietta-Sprayberry visited Clemson late last season for the Military Appreciation Day game against Georgia.

“I had a good time. I really liked the game. I loved the atmosphere,” Sermon said, during a recent interview with TheClemsonInsider.

He added, “I plan on going back and visiting again sometime.”

While splitting time with a senior this past season, Sermon rushed for close to 500 yards and scored 11 touchdowns. In addition to his trip up to Clemson, he also made a pair of visits to Athens for Georgia games.

The trip to Clemson was his first visit to Tigertown.

“It felt like home as I was going through there,” Sermon said. “I like it.”

Defensive coordinator Brent Venables serves as his primary recruiter to Clemson.
