Clemson is back on top

The defending national champions are back on top.

Clemson is ranked No. 1 in this week’s College Football Playoff Committee Rankings, which was released Tuesday night.

This is the seventh time the Tigers have sat atop the Playoff Committee’s rankings since the rankings began in 2014. The Tigers were ranked No. 1 for all six weeks in the 2015 CFP Committee Rankings before losing to Alabama in the national championship game that year.

Clemson (11-1) has been in ranked in the top 4 in all five playoff rankings this year, but this is the first time this season the Tigers have been ranked No. 1. This is also the 17th straight week the Tigers have been ranked in the top four since 2015.

Of course Clemson is also No. 1 in both the Associated Press and Amway/USA TODAY Coaches Polls as well.

Clemson will face No. 7 Miami (11-1) this week in the ACC Championship Game in Charlotte on Saturday. The winner will earn a spot in the College Football Playoff. The Tigers are the defending national champions.

Clemson, Alabama and Ohio State are the only schools to be ranked in the playoff committee’s top 25 every week since it debuted in 2014.

Clemson of course is coming off a 34-10 victory over rival South Carolina this past Saturday.
