The long-awaited and highly anticipated day has arrived. Prep hoops phenom Zion Williamson is ready to reveal his college decision on Saturday at 8:15 p.m.

The stage is set and all eyes are on Williamson, who is perhaps the most prominent high school basketball prospect since LeBron James.

Stats: Williamson has missed most of his senior season to this point due to an injury, but hasn’t missed a beat upon his return. Williamson scored 31 points in his first game back on Jan. 11 and followed that up with a 36-point performance last weekend. He continued to roll on Friday night, when he dropped 34 points and grabbed nine boards in Spartanburg Day’s win over Shannon Forest.

As a junior last season, Williamson averaged 36.8 points, 13.2 rebounds, 3 assists, 3 steals and 2.5 blocks per game.

Williamson has more than 2,500 career points according to MaxPreps.

Announcement details

Williamson will announce his college choice on Saturday at 8:15 p.m. ET during a ceremony at Spartanburg Day School. The ceremony will be open to the public. The announcement will also be carried on ESPN2.

Who are the finalists?

Williamson hasn’t released a list of his top schools, but Clemson, South Carolina, North Carolina, Duke, Kentucky and Kansas are believed to be the finalists.

Which school is the favorite?

Williamson made official visits to Duke, North Carolina, Kentucky and Kansas in the fall. He has unofficially visited Clemson and South Carolina numerous times. Coaches from Clemson, Duke, North Carolina, Kentucky and South Carolina met with Williamson this week. The only perceived finalist he did not meet with is Kansas.

Williamson has kept his recruitment close to the vest and never publicly named a favorite. Schools such as Duke, Kentucky and Kansas have been viewed as the leader at various times in his recruitment over the last year. However, Clemson began trending recently and is considered the favorite by many heading into his announcement. Multiple sources told TCI recently that Clemson was Williamson’s top college choice at the time.

Clemson has courted Williamson longer than anyone and gave him his first high-major offer after his freshman year. His father, Lee Anderson, played for Clemson.

Proximity and familiarity have worked in the Tigers’ favor with Williamson. He has visited Clemson often in the past, feels comfortable there and is close with the staff and players.

The bottom line is nobody knows for certain where Williamson will declare for on Saturday night. But Clemson’s chances are as good as any.
