FSU commit wowed by Clemson

Delray Beach (Fla.) American Heritage four-star defensive end Mike Morris made his first visit to Clemson on Saturday. Morris was among the standout 2019 recruits that attended Clemson’s elite junior day.

Morris, a Florida State commitment, didn’t leave Clemson disappointed.

“I loved the visit,” Morris told TCI. “It was amazing.”

Morris (6-5, 250) was impressed by all of what Clemson has to offer, but especially awed by its football operations facility.

“The locker room was just jaw-dropping,” he said. “The players lounge — I’ve never seen a players lounge like that. The players lounge connects to the dining area for the football players. If you go outside those doors, there’s a basketball court. You can play cornhole… It was a nice scenery.”

Morris was accompanied on the visit by his mother and father.

His dad, Michael Morris, was an offensive lineman at Florida State in the late 1980s.

“She liked it, and my dad, he likes it too,” the younger Morris said of his parents.

Morris gave a verbal pledge to the Seminoles as a freshman in February 2016. While he remains committed, the Tigers gave him a lot to think about and they are certainly in the mix for his services.

Does Morris think the junior day visit helped the Tigers’ chances of potentially flipping his commitment in the future?

“I would say so,” he said.

Morris said he may return to Clemson for the spring game.

He is a consensus top-250 overall prospect in the 2019 class according to the major recruiting services.
