5-star RB names Clemson among top schools

Stafford (Va.) North Stafford five-star running back Devyn Ford named Clemson one of his top six schools on Thursday.

North Carolina, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Penn State and Virginia Tech also made the cut for Ford, who is the top-ranked running back in the Class of 2019.

Ford (5-11, 185) has over 40 offers in total. In addition to his top six, he lists offers from Auburn, Florida, Georgia, LSU, Michigan, Notre Dame, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, USC, Wisconsin and others.

The Tigers offered Ford in the spring of 2016. He has visited Clemson several times since, most recently for the Tigers’ junior day last March.

As a junior last season, Ford ran for 2,056 yards and scored 32 touchdowns. He was named the Commonwealth District and 5A Region D Offensive Player of the Year.

In his three-year high school career, Ford has rushed for more than 5,000 yards and accounted for 76 touchdowns.

Ford was recently invited to compete in the 2019 Under Armour All-American Game. He is ranked by Rivals as the No. 1 running back and No. 10 overall prospect in his class.
