Clemson recruits the state of Georgia as hard as any state in the country, and on Wednesday, the Tigers extended another offer to a Peach State prospect: 2019 defensive end Colby Wooden of Lawrenceville (Ga.) Archer.

“It felt amazing,” Wooden said of his latest offer from Clemson.

Wooden (6-3, 225) was informed of the offer by Lemanski Hall, who was hired as Clemson’s 10th full-time assistant and defensive ends coach in January.

“I was on the phone with coach Hall and he told me,” Wooden said. “(He said) that he had been watching my film for quite some time and he enjoyed watching me play.”

Wooden visited Clemson for the Orange & White spring game in 2017 as well as the Tigers’ junior day last March.

After picking up the offer, he is looking to return to Clemson for its junior day next month.

“Hopefully I’ll be up there the 3rd,” Wooden said.

Clemson’s offer added to a long list of college opportunities for Wooden. He now has 22 offers in total, including ones from the likes of Georgia, Auburn, Tennessee, Florida State, Michigan and Wisconsin.

With its new offer, Clemson is now in a strong position with Wooden early in his recruitment.

“Now that the Tigers offered me I can say that they have shot up very high for me,” Wooden said.

Wooden cited Georgia, Auburn, Clemson and Tennessee as the schools he is feeling the most interest from right now. He recently visited Georgia and Tennessee and is planning to be at Auburn this Saturday. He said he wasn’t sure when he will make his commitment decision.

ESPN ranks Wooden as the No. 265 overall prospect in the 2019 class regardless of position.
