One prospect that has seen his stock shoot up in early 2018 is St. Augustine (Fla.) Pedro Menendez 2019 athlete Kenny Logan.
Logan (6-1, 178) received his first Power Five offer from Miami at the end of last month following an impressive performance at a 7-on-7 tournament in Orlando, Fla. Logan has also collected power conference offers from Boston College, Minnesota and Purdue since late January, in addition to other FBS programs such as UCF, USF and FAU.
Clemson is among other major programs showing interest in Logan, who recently got in touch with Clemson co-offensive coordinator and area recruiter Jeff Scott.
“He let me know that I am on their radar,” Logan told The Clemson Insider, “and that he wanted to get me up on a visit very soon.”
Logan is now scheduled to visit Clemson for the first time on March 3, when the Tigers will hold their second junior day of the year.
“I’m very excited to be actually visiting a national championship school,” he said.
Logan has played all over the field for Menendez, including at quarterback, running back, receiver, outside linebacker, safety and cornerback. Most schools are recruiting him as an athlete, while others view him as a defensive back or receiver.
The Tigers are looking at Logan for both wide receiver and safety, and he believes an offer from Clemson may be in the cards.
“I think I could get an offer when I get down there,” he said.
Logan was slated to visit UCF on Friday and Miami on Saturday as well.
In addition to the current suitors on his offer sheet, Logan said he is getting interest from Alabama, Florida State, Georgia, Wake Forest, Indiana and a couple of other schools along with Clemson.
Logan cited Miami, UCF, Minnesota, USF and Boston College as his early favorites, though he isn’t in a rush to render his college decision.
“I’m trying to see what else the spring season brings me,” he said.
Should the Clemson offer come to fruition in the future, Logan said it would impact his recruitment.
“I mean to be offered by Clemson would be crazy and so exciting,” he said. “As a kid I dreamed about playing at big-time schools like that, and to have them offer would be amazing.
“They are a national title contender every year.”
As a junior last season, Logan recorded over 1,000 yards of total offense including 637 yards and nine touchdowns on the ground and 478 receiving yards on 34 catches. He also had an interception as a defensive back and returned kicks.
Logan’s older brother, Brandon James, was a two-time All-American wide receiver and return specialist specialist at Florida who played on the Gators’ 2007 and 2009 national title teams.
Logan has a relationship with former Clemson linebacker Tony Steward, who also attended Pedro Menendez.
