Former Clemson wide receiver Ray-Ray McCloud is one of five former Tigers that were invited to the 2018 NFL Scouting Combine at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianpolis.
McCloud weighed in at the combine Thursday, checking in at 5-foot-9 and 4/8 inches, 190 pounds. He measured in with 30 and 2/8-inch arms and 9 2/8-inch hands, while his wingspan measured 72 and 5/8 inches.
On Friday, McCloud took part in the bench-press drill with his position group and put up 13 reps of 225 pounds, a mark that tied for 20th among all participating wide receivers at the combine.
The receivers then went through on-field workouts and drills Saturday, such as the 40-yard dash, vertical jump and broad jump.
McCloud ran an official 4.53 in the 40-yard dash, a time that ranked tied for 21st among the participating receivers.
The Tampa, Fla., native recorded a vertical jump of 34.5 inches and broad jump of 113 inches, marks that ranked tied for 14th and tied for 31st, respectively.
McCloud was particularly impressive during on-field workouts, showing off his hands with a couple of nice catches. For example, when running a route down the field at full speed, McCloud managed to reverse course and come back to the ball to secure an underthrown pass — something that isn’t easy to do.
“That was a great grab,” NFL Network analyst and former NFL receiver Michael Irvin said. “I can’t tell you how hard that catch is right there. To be running that fast, to turn around and catch that ball, that’s an incredible grab.”
First receiver group standouts from my perspective: Utah’s Darren Carrington, Colorado State’s Michael Gallup, Clemson’s Ray-Ray McCloud
