Less than 24 hours after he left the Clemson campus, Jamie Skalski told TheClemsonInsider that he was ready to make his announcement.
The three-star linebacker from Newnan, Georgia was among the visitors in Tigertown for Saturday’s Elite Junior Day.
“I had a great time, I loved it,” Skalski told TheClemsonInsider on Sunday afternoon.
What stood out?
“For college, a big part is my mom being happy, and me. I was trying to look for a school that matched academics with football…I’m going to get a good education, graduate and play top-notch football.
“I felt like I saw that at Clemson. It feels right. The academics are great. That’s all I wanted to see, really, and the facilities. I liked what I saw.”
Skalski spent time talking with Dabo Swinney and Brent Venables.
“Coach V and coach Swinney — great guy, I could tell just from meeting (Swinney) for the first time. I like him a lot,” Skalski said. “I’ve always liked coach Venables. I enjoyed spending time with him again. I liked them all.”
The 6-foot-1, 225-pound prospect went in-depth about the details behind his looming decision.
“It’s going to be pretty soon, like sometime this week I’m going to make a decision,” Skalski said. “I’m not saying where, but I’m going to make a decision.”
It will “probably” be on Wednesday.
“I could really care less if I announce at the school,” Skalski said. “Just probably going to sit down with my high school coach and my dad, just talk about it and make my decision there.”
In seven games as a junior, Skalski had 78 tackles and three sacks.
