Two Former Clemson players, who played on the Tigers’ 2016 national championship team, have been arrested and accused of robbing someone at gunpoint.
Former Clemson safety Jadar Johnson and running back C.J. Fuller have been charged with Armed Robbery and Possession of a Weapon during the Commission of a Crime. Another man, Quaven Maurice Ferguson, was also charged in the crime.
Ferguson played football at Duke as a reserve defensive tackle. He went to high school with Fuller in Easley, S.C.
The alleged crime happened in downtown Clemson. Police Chief Jimmy Dixon confirmed to The Clemson Insider the three men had been arrested and charged.
Police were called to an apartment on Sloan Street in Clemson around 4 p.m., Wednesday by a victim who said they were robbed at gun point, according to a press release from the city of Clemson Police Department.
The three men are accused of knocking on the victim’s door and forcing their way inside and robbing the victim at gun point. The police said the suspects allegedly took cash and the victim’s cell phone before leaving in the direction of the downtown parking deck.
All three suspects were arrested without incident.
The three men are being held in the Clemson City Jail awaiting a bond hearing.
Johnson, who is from Orangeburg, S.C., was a first-team All-ACC selection in 2016 after leading the national champions with five interceptions. He also had 65 tackles, 6 tackles for loss and broke up a team-high 11 passes.
Fuller, who decided to transfer out of Clemson at the end of the spring, played in 43 games in his Clemson career and started three of them. He had 599 career yards and scored four touchdowns.
He also caught 18 passes for 155 yards and two more touchdowns. One touchdown was an over-the-shoulder-catch against South Carolina in 2016 and the other was nearly the same against Ohio State in the 2017 Fiesta Bowl.
