Sophomore WR visits Tigertown

Clemson hosted a rather large contingent of high school prospects last weekend when a group from North Carolina stopped by the school for a visit.

Among the headliners was Ryan Jones, a 2017 wide receiver from Ardrey Kell High School in Charlotte.

“That was my second time there,” he told TheClemsonInsider earlier this week. “I really like it there. They have great facilities and all that stuff, so it was good.”

The 6-2, 200-pound prospect was in Clemson last summer for camp. Jones got word of his offer from the Tigers not long after his camp stay came to a close.

For last weekend’s visit, co-offensive coordinator Jeff Scott and tight ends coach Danny Pearman served as the hosts.

“The locker room is really nice. (Pearman) also showed us what it will look like, the players’ lounge and everything. It’s a lot of stuff in there. It’s nice,” Jones said.

Along with Clemson, West Virginia, N.C. State and Vanderbilt have offered.

“I hear a lot from Georgia, Notre Dame, Nebraska, UNC, Duke, those are the main ones, and Clemson,” Jones said.

Jones also went to N.C. State’s for Junior Day earlier this year. He’ll visit Tennessee for Junior Day and he hopes to get to West Virginia and Virginia later this spring.

As a sophomore, Jones had 35 catches, 650 yards and 10 touchdowns.
