Clemson – The Tigers rallied from a six run deficit to tie the game, but Clemson’s bullpen gave up five late runs as Notre Dame pulled away 11-6 in game two Saturday at Doug Kingsmore.

For the second straight week Brody Koerner struggled early.  Koerner gave up eight hits, four runs and four earned runs in 3.1 innings.  Alex Schnell also struggled giving up two runs in 1.0 innings.

Pat Krall was a bright spot for the pitching staff.  Krall came in and worked out of trouble in the fourth and went 3.1 innings giving up two hits, two runs and no earned runs.

The Tigers rallied in the sixth to tie the game.  With one out Eli White doubled down the right field line.  Tyler Slaton walked before Steven Duggar doubled to score White and Slaton.  Tyler Krieger reached on a throwing error and advanced to second.  Reed Rohlman singled to score Duggar and Krieger scored on an error.  Chris Okey doubled down the left field line advancing Rohlman to third.  Weston Wilson hit a sacrifice fly to score Rohlman.  Chase Pinder singled to score Okey and tie the game 6-6.

The luck of the Irish helped Notre Dame regain the lead in the top of eighth.  With the bases loaded and two outs, Clate Schmidt had an 0-2  count on Richards.  Richards hit a slow roller down to third that  worked better  than a bunt.  The runner from third scored and the runner from second scored on a throwing error by Wilson.

Notre Dame added three more runs in the top of the ninth to make the final score 11-6.

Clemson fell to 9-8 overall and 2-3 in the ACC with the loss.  The Tigers and Irish play Sunday at 1 PM to determine the series winner.
