Virginia Beach pass rusher visits Clemson

LaRonde Liverpool, a three-star outside linebacker from Virginia, currently holds offers from N.C. State and Virginia.

The No. 62 ranked player at the position for the class of 2016, Liverpool made the trip down to Clemson earlier this month for Junior Day.

“It was great. I enjoyed it. It was the best visit I’ve had,” he said, during an interview with TheClemsonInsider.

“It had a little bit of everything that I was looking for, school-wise. After the academics, there’s football. The coaches, they were straight-forward people.”

Liverpool’s contact with Clemson contact began earlier this year when Brent Venables stopped by Virginia Beach-Landstown during the January evaluation period. The Tigers’ defensive coordinator is recruiting him as a hybrid outside linebacker.

But, while Liverpool was in town for Junior Day, he didn’t spend much time discussing football with Venables.

“Most of what we talked about was school-wise, like the actual place,” Liverpool said. “We didn’t do a lot of football talk. Everything that has been said about football has been said before.”

This year, Liverpool has also been to Virginia Tech, Duke, N.C. State and Maryland.

“All of the schools that I’ve been to and have offers from, I’ll be going to their camps, before I close that out,” he said.

With no favorites to speak of, Liverpool isn’t in all that big of a big rush to make his final decision.

“I want to get everything done before football season starts, so I don’t have to worry about that during the year and just focus on football,” he said.

As a junior, Liverpool had eight sacks.
