BUFORD, Ga. – Just hours before Antwuan Jackson received an invite to The Opening, he spoke with TheClemsonInsider about where things stand with his recruitment.
The four-star defensive tackle from Cedar Grove High School (Ellenwood, Georgia) first visited Clemson with his step-brother, Bryson Allen-Williams, who’s now a sophomore linebacker at South Carolina.
“It’s a great community and they love their Tigers, that’s what I remember about it,” Jackson said of the 2012 N.C. State game.
Visit No. 2 was earlier this year for the Elite Junior Day.
“It was one of the best visits I’ve ever been on, honestly, since I’ve been on this recruiting trip,” Jackson said.
What else stands out about Clemson?
“The campus is beautiful and I love the coaches.”
He plans to be back on campus in the not too distant future.
“The spring, summer, fall, I’ll definitely be up there at least three more times or more,” Jackson said.
Later this summer, he hopes to visit Ohio State.
Along with Clemson, South Carolina, Georgia, Auburn and Alabama are firmly in the mix. His decision could come sometime this fall, but it could also ride out all the way until signing day.
Several factors will be considered.
“Me just loving the school, me loving the program, me loving the education and the coaches,” Jackson said.
For Clemson, defensive ends coach Marion Hobby serves as Jackson’s primary recruiter.
“We just talk about life. We don’t always talk about football. We just talk about how it’s going and things like that,” Jackson said.
