One of the top prospects in Clemson on Saturday for the Orange and White game was four-star running back Colin Wilson.
A 6-foot, 210-pound sophomore from Green Cove Springs-Clay (FL), Wilson is rated as a four-star prospect by Scout, Rivals and 247. According to the 247, he’s the second-best running back in the class of 2017.
Saturday marked his first trip to Clemson.
“It’s a nice place,” Wilson told TheClemsonInsider on Sunday.
He added, “You can tell it’s a family up there.”
Wilson was one of several prospects from the Jacksonville area that made the trip up to Clemson. Included in the group was 2017 wide receiver Derrick Smith, 2017 linebacker T.J. Robinson and 2017 athlete Daequantae Showers.
“I heard from Dabo Swinney, he was talking to us about what goes on,” Wilson said.
The No. 32 overall prospect in the class of 2017, Wilson was impressed with what he saw while in Clemson.
“It was a nice stadium. There were a lot of people there for a spring game. It was a nice campus,” he said.
Wilson is also a fan of the Tigers’ hurry-up, no-huddle system.
“I liked it. We have their hurry-up plays in our offense, so I like their offense,” Wilson said.
With offers from Clemson, USC, Ohio State and all of the heavy-hitters in the SEC, Wilson has options, but no favorites.
As a sophomore, he rushed for over 1,555 yards and 27 touchdowns. He also caught six passes for 197 yards with two scores.
