The Clemson basketball staff already knows it has at least one four-star point guard on the way.
Vanderbilt transfer Shelton Mitchell was visiting over the weekend, but Clemson already has Ty Hudson locked up for later this year. Now signed to run with the Tigers, starting this winter, Hudson looks forward to his jump to the next level.
“Mostly, I’m just ready to get up there with my teammates and learn how they play, get a feel for each other,” he said, during a recent interview with TheClemsonInsider.
“Then, with my college career, I just want to have a successful one.”
For the first season at Clemson, Hudson and his teammates will play their home games in Greenville at the Bon Secours Wellness Arena.
“I don’t think it will be a big deal to me, because I haven’t played in Littlejohn. It might be weird for my teammates who have, but I don’t know,” he said.
Ranked as the No. 19 point guard in the class of 2015, Hudson is in regular contact with a couple of those soon-to-be teammates: Donte Grantham and Jaron Blossomgame.
“They just let me know it’s not going to be easy and they’re going to push me hard and everything like that,” Hudson said.
The 6-1, 200-pound prospect is ready for it. And he’s excited about playing on the biggest stage in college hoops.
“I can’t wait,” Hudson said. “That’s probably my biggest — getting the chance to play in the ACC basketball. I’m ready.”
As a senior, Hudson scored 18 points per game. He also averaged five assists and six steals, helping Mableton-Pebblebrook to the Georgia AAAAAA state title game.
“I feel like it was a very successful run. All of my senior teammates will be going to school to play somewhere,” Hudson said. “I feel like we accomplished something. We didn’t get our ultimate goal, but it was still good.”
