The final piece to the puzzle?

In 26 minutes against Clemson last December, Marcquise Reed scored 21 points for Robert Morris in the Colonials’ 64-57 loss.

Reed, who averaged 15.1 points per game as a freshman, is transferring from Robert Morris. He’s already taken official visits to Tulsa and UMass. Southern Cal will have him on campus this weekend.

Clemson, his fourth and final visit, is scheduled to host him next weekend.

“Just trying to get a feel for the campus,” he told TheClemsonInsider, when asked about Clemson.

“Played there earlier last year, so I just want to get a nice tour of the campus and get to know the coaches a little bit more. And, hopefully, spend some time with the players, to see how it is up there.

“Hopefully, I like it, and I can move on from there.”

Clemson made a good first-impression on the 6-foot-3, 175-pound guard from Laurel, Maryland.

“They were well-coached. They had a nice coliseum. It’s the ACC. It’s one of the best conferences in the country, so you really can’t turn that down,” Reed said.

Along with head coach Brad Brownell, assistant Richie Riley is running the point on the pursuit of Reed.

“They need a guy that can come in and score, be an immediate impact guy.

That’s basically what I do, as far as scoring…they really want to get me on board,” Reed said. “They think that I can help them win, go to the tournament and help them go far.

“They’ve go something good building right now. They just think I’m the last piece to the puzzle.”

Once his trip to Clemson comes to a close, Reed said he’ll take two or three days to weigh out his options. Several factors will be considered.

“That bond with the coaches, the feel of the campus, if it feels like home,” he said. “And if I have a good interraction with the players. I’ve got to feel that brotherly love and let me into their kingdom, just small things like that.”

Reed is already friends with Clemson sophomore forward Donte Grantham.

“A lot of my bros played with D.C. Assault, so we met through that, through the basketball world,” Reed said.

Grantham, like Brownell and Riley, has been recruiting him to Clemson.

“We’ve been in touch a lot,” Reed said. “He’s telling me that Clemson is a good program and I’d probably like the school. He’s trying to get me up there.”
