Clemson No. 28 in Collegiate Baseball Poll

TUCSON, Ariz. — Louisiana St. (46-9) is ranked No. 1 for the fifth straight time in the Collegiate Baseball NCAA Division I poll presented by Big League Chew bubble gum.

The Tigers captured the Southeastern Conference regular-season title over the past weekend after winning two of three at South Carolina. LSU claimed their 16th SEC championship . The Tigers have won 23 of its last 27 games and 16 of its last 19.

In key series over the past weekend, Texas Christian swept a 3-game series at Oklahoma, Miami (Fla.) won three straight at home against Georgia Tech., Clemson swept a 3-game series at Florida St. (the first time the Seminoles have been swept at home in an ACC series since 2006), Vanderbilt won two of three at Alabama, California and Southern California split their first two games in Berkeley, Calif., Oregon St. swept three at Stanford, U.C. Santa Barbara won three straight at home against U.C. Irvine, Arkansas won two of three at Georgia and Virginia swept a 3-game series at North Carolina.

Poll Notes: Several teams have been red-hot. Illinois has won 26 straight, Miami (Fla.), Missouri St. and St. John’s 12 in a row, Radford 11 consecutive and Texas Christian 9 straight. Oregon St. also hasn’t lost a game in 9 consecutive games.

The Collegiate Baseball newspaper poll is the oldest college baseball poll. Its birth took place during the 1959 college baseball season.
