Four-star offensive lineman John Simpson is about the narrow down his list of options.

The 2016 prospect from Fort Dorchester High School will hit the road this summer before whittling his list down to three.

“Me and my coach, we’ve been talking a lot about the decision and he just wants me to take as much time as I need,” Simpson told TheClemsonInsider, during a recent interview.

There’s no timeline, no plan for what will happen next.

“He tells me all the time, don’t let it get to me right now,” Simpson said, “Because it’s going to get much worse, so just go slow with the process and take your time, so I was like, OK.”

This summer, Simpson will head to Alabama for camp. He also plans to take visits/camp trips to Clemson, South Carolina, LSU, Florida, Tennessee and Georgia.

The plan, for now, is to be in Clemson during the Dabo Swinney Football Camp, June 8-10.

Earlier this month, he was in Tigertown with his teammate, 2018 quarterback Dakereon Joyner.

“Most likely, we’re going to travel together, like we always do,” Simpson said of the summer itinerary.

“But he’s got 7-on-7 and stuff like that, so I’ve got to try to work around what he’s doing.”

Throughout their recent afternoon in Tigertown, Simpson and Joyner were joined by co-offensive coordinator Tony Elliott, offensive player development coach Durrell Barry and Tyler Clements, the son of Clemson President Jim Clements.

Elliott serves as the area recruiter for the two prospects and Barry went to Fort Dorchester before playing tight end at Clemson.

“I went up there and I saw a little bit more stuff that I haven’t seen before,” Simpson said. “Every time I got up there, it’s something different, so that’s one of the good things about going up there that I like about Clemson.”

He added, “We got to go in-depth with what’s coming up, what’s being built and we got a better tour of it. Got to tour through the campus. We saw a lot of things, like buildings and stuff like that, that we’ve never seen that’s on campus.”
