Among the host of Miami area prospects to pick up an offer from Clemson this month was four-star running back Kyshaun Bryan.
Ranked by 247 as the No. 8 overall running back in the class of 2017, Bryan was one of two players from Plantation-American Heritage offered by Brent Venables, during his late-month run through South Florida.
“It was a big surprise, because I didn’t know they were looking at me, but my coaches did tell me a little bit something about them,” Bryan told
TheClemsonInsider. “I was excited about it. That’s a big offer.”
The hurry-up, no-huddle offense that Chad Morris introduced to Clemson is intriguing.
“I know they’re trying to pick back up and I know they love to run a fast-tempo offense. I love that,” Bryan said. “We do that here at my high school, so I think that’s pretty cool.”
At some point along the way, he wants to visit and see Clemson for himself.
“I would love to. I would love to see the school and see what they have to offer,” Bryan said. “I’m going to talk to my parents about it and see what I can do, because the trip from down here to up there is kind of difficult with money and stuff like that.”
The three big programs in the state of Florida have offered. So have Michigan, UNC, Ohio State and West Virginia. Bryan hasn’t left the state for a college visit.
“During the summer, I’m going to head to some schools out-of-state, maybe one, maybe two, I don’t know yet,” he said. “I’ve got to see how that’s going to work with my parents. But I (visited) UF, FSU and Miami, for right now.”
And it’s a little too early in the process for him to start naming favorites.
“I’m taking every school into consideration, but there are some schools sticking out. I hope I get, probably in the summer, I’m going to release a little something, from top to bottom,” he said. “Right now, I’m just taking everything in with the schools that have interest in me.”
As a sophomore, Bryan appeared in just three regular season games because of an injury. But he returned just in time for the playoff run, totaling 96 carries for 826 with seven touchdowns last season.
