Clemson makes cut for 4-star DL, NFL legacy recruit

Clemson made the cut Monday for a standout prospect from the Peach State and NFL legacy recruit.

Meadowcreek High School (Norcross, Ga.) four-star defensive lineman Champ Thompson further narrowed down his list of top schools, including the Tigers in his top seven along with Georgia, Georgia Tech, Ole Miss, Florida State, Penn State and Miami.

Champ is the son of former Atlanta Falcons offensive tackle Michael Thompson, who starred at Tennessee State University before being drafted by the Falcons in the fourth round of the 2000 NFL draft.

The younger Thompson is the No. 25 defensive lineman nationally and No. 240 overall prospect in the 2024 class, per the 247Sports Composite rankings.

He received an offer from Clemson after participating in the Dabo Swinney Camp last June.

“It means a lot,” Thompson told The Clemson Insider after receiving an offer from the Tigers. “It lets me know that I got the work ethic and I got the potential and I got what they’re looking for to have on their team.”
