A notable local prospect on Clemson’s radar returned to Tiger Town last Saturday for the second time this season.
T.L. Hanna (Anderson, S.C.) cornerback Cam Strong was back on campus as an unofficial visitor for the Florida State game, and like his first visit this season, he came away impressed after the experience.
“The visit to Clemson is always great. Amazing hospitality and always great talking to the coaches,” Strong told The Clemson Insider. “For me, the highlight of the visit was the atmosphere and the crowd. It was great and a good game overall.”
Strong, a class of 2025 recruit who has scored a few offers since the summer, also visited Clemson for its Sept. 9 home opener vs. Charleston Southern.
While on campus for the FSU game, he had a chance to speak some more with members of the Tigers’ staff including cornerbacks coach Mike Reed and safeties coach Mickey Conn.
“They were just all happy to have me back,” Strong said.
Prior to the gameday visits this season, Strong worked out at the Dabo Swinney Camp in June, and he expects to get back to Clemson again soon.
The 6-foot-1, 170-pound junior hopes to continue developing his bond with Clemson as the recruiting process progresses from here.
“I’m really just trying to keep building those relationships with the coaches,” he said, “and just stay in touch with them as much as possible.”
Strong received his first offer from Georgia State in early June before Duke extended his first power conference offer a couple of weeks later. Charlotte then came in with an offer in August.
An offer from Clemson in the future would obviously be huge for the Upstate recruit who has grown up rooting for the Tigers.
“The offer would mean a lot, especially because I’ve always grown up a Tiger fan, and they’re one of my favorite schools that I’d love to attend,” he said.
Strong was at Duke for its season opener against Clemson, and he’ll be back in Durham for the Blue Devils’ game against Notre Dame this weekend. He goes to NC State the following weekend and plans to visit South Florida sometime in November.
