The historic season for the Atlanta Braves and a former Clemson Tiger is a key part of those efforts. Spencer Strider burst onto the scene last year with 202 strikeouts for Atlanta, and he’s officially flown by those numbers in 2023 in record fashion.
In his 20th win on the season, an MLB-best, he threw seven strikeouts and broke the Braves’ franchise record for strikeouts in season during the modern era. He ends the season with 281 strikeouts, a great cap to an All-Star regular season and an obvious MLB leader in the statistic.

Strider is one of the aces in Atlanta’s arsenal, and a large reason why they’re heading to the playoffs with home field advantage. He had 70 strikeouts as a freshman at Clemson in 2018, but missed the following season with injury.
The head after, he was drafted by the Braves and the rest is history. Strider inked a six-year contract worth $75 million last year and he’s already proving Atlanta right on their investment.
With the Braves entering the postseason as World Series favorites, Strider is key to making that dream realized. For now, he’s immortalized in the history books at Truist Park.
