A former Clemson wide receiver is staying in the same pro football league, but is headed to play for a new team.
The Pittsburgh Maulers of the USFL announced this week they have signed Diondre Overton.
The former Tiger played the last two seasons with the USFL’s Philadelphia Stars, tallying 533 receiving yards and five touchdowns.
In the 2022 USFL season, Overton recorded 200 receiving yards and three touchdowns while helping the Stars make it to the USFL Championship Game against the Birmingham Stallions. Overton followed that up with 30 catches for 333 yards and two touchdowns for the Stars in 2023.
At Clemson, Overton finished with 52 career receptions for 777 yards and seven touchdowns over 51 games (five starts) from 2016-19.
