Swinney updates Shipley’s status for Notre Dame

CLEMSON – The Clemson Tigers are headed into the final stretch of the season, and head coach Dabo Swinney updated a multitude of injuries during his media availability Wednesday night.

Starting with running back Will Shipley, who suffered a concussion against NC State, Swinney says that it’s still up in the air about having him available for the matchup with Notre Dame.

“He has made some good progress…definitely still day-to-day,” Swinney said. “Medical people gotta say he’s good to go…they have protocols in place and metrics and they’ve got all kinds of stuff that you have to go through to be cleared back to play so that’s where he is.”

Shipley is the Tigers’ leading rusher with 112 carries for 515 yards and three touchdowns. With a heavyweight Irish team coming to Death Valley, his status will be crucial to watch as Saturday approaches.

If Shipley’s unable to go, more pressure goes to Phil Mafah and Swinney says the trio of Domonique Thomas, Keith Adams Jr. and Jay Haynes will help pick up the slack.
