On Tuesday, Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney updated the injury statuses of these two starting defensive backs ahead of Saturday’s game against North Carolina.
Swinney said senior safety Jalyn Phillips remains sidelined this week after missing each of the Tigers’ past two games.
“He’s still out,” Swinney said.
Senior cornerback Sheridan Jones, however, has a chance to play Saturday according to Swinney.
Jones has been out for the last two games as well.
“He’s working his way (back), so hopefully he’ll maybe be available,” Swinney said.
Jones has tallied 25 tackles (two for loss), a pass breakup and an interception across seven games this season (all starts), while Phillips has posted 34 tackles (two for loss), a sack and five pass breakups over eight games this year (all starts).
