Clemson TD Ties Game After Wiggins’ Incredible Play

Tight end Jake Briningstool’s 3-yard touchdown reception from quarterback Cade Klubnik put Clemson on the scoreboard with around 10 minutes left in the second quarter and tied Saturday’s game against No. 20 North Carolina at 7 apiece.

The touchdown capped a 14-play, 80-yard drive for the Tigers that spanned six and a half minutes. A couple of plays before the score, Clemson converted a key fourth-and-1 attempt from the UNC 4-yard line on a 2-yard quarterback sneak by Klubnik.

Clemson’s game-tying touchdown came after a game-changing defensive play by Tigers cornerback Nate Wiggins on UNC’s previous offensive possession.

Tar Heels running back Omarion Hampton broke off what would have been a 64-yard touchdown run late in the first quarter, but the touchdown was overturned upon replay review after Wiggins showed off incredible effort, hustle and speed to cause a Hampton fumble from behind at the 1-yard line. The ball went through the end zone, resulting in a touchback and Clemson getting the ball.
