After the Jacksonville Jaguars’ 34-14 win over the Tennessee Titans on Sunday, Jags quarterback Trevor Lawrence was asked to respond to criticism he had gotten over the last week — notably from Richard Sherman, Nick Bosa and Arden Key, hinting that Lawrence struggles to make plays beyond the first read.
The former Clemson star responded jokingly at first, saying, “Not Arden? Arden said that?”
The reporter then pressed Lawrence on whether that had gotten back to him and if he used it as motivation Sunday on the field.
“I’m not thinking about any of that stuff,” Lawrence replied. “I could care less what those guys say, to be honest. That’s really my only response to that. It doesn’t matter. If those guys think I’m the best thing in the world, it doesn’t matter either.”
“I love Arden,” Lawrence continued. “Former teammate. Hurts that he said that. Really, I don’t care. It’s about how I perform on Sunday. It’s not about what other people say. If you want to change the narrative, then change the narrative and play better.”
Lawrence certainly played better Sunday, totaling 262 yards through the air with two touchdown passes as well as running for two more scores.
Key finished the game with three tackles.
