During College GameDay this morning, ESPN’s Rece Davis and Kirk Herbstreit chimed in on Clemson ahead of tonight’s game at South Carolina.

The 24th-ranked Tigers head into the rivalry showdown riding a lot of late-season momentum.

“Clemson has looked a little more like Clemson,” Davis said.

“Yeah, after those two losses, to be able to win three in a row,” Herbstreit added.

After those back-to-back losses at Miami and NC State, Clemson (7-4) has found its stride during the three-game winning streak that’s featured victories over ranked opponents in Notre Dame and most recently North Carolina a week ago.

Davis pointed to the well-publicized call from Tyler of Spartanburg during Dabo Swinney’s radio show after the loss to NC State as the turning point in the Tigers’ season following a 4-4 start (Clemson’s worst start since 2010) and 2-4 start in the ACC (its worst start in conference play since 1998),

“I credit Tyler from Spartanburg,” Davis said. “It turned from that call.”

Like Clemson, South Carolina (5-6) enters tonight’s game having won three in a row (vs. Jacksonville State, Vanderbilt and Kentucky).

The Tigers and Gamecocks kick off at 7:30 p.m. at Williams-Brice Stadium in Columbia. Clemson is a 7.5-point favorite entering the contest, which will be televised on SEC Network.
