Peach State QB Can ‘Definitely’ See Himself Playing for Swinney, Tigers

A talented young Peach State signal-caller, who has been on Clemson’s recruiting radar, returned to Tiger Town recently.

Cass High School (Cartersville, Ga.) quarterback Brodie McWhorter made an unofficial visit to campus for the Nov. 18 game vs. North Carolina.

The class of 2026 prospect, with several early power conference offers, had another great experience at Clemson.

“The visit to Clemson was great – it’s always a good time when I’m in Tiger Town,” McWhorter told The Clemson Insider. “I would say the highlight of the visit was the love the coaching staff was showing me. They were right by my side the whole time treating me like family.”

McWhorter made his first-ever gameday visit to Clemson last season when he attended the NC State game.

The 6-foot-2, 190-pound sophomore was blown away again by the environment in Death Valley during the Tigers’ victory over the Tar Heels.

“The atmosphere in Death Valley was insane,” he said. “I went to the night game last year against NC State. That was crazy but it shows how great Clemson’s fan base is to show that same energy for a 3:30 game.”

McWhorter was able to speak briefly after the game with offensive coordinator/quarterbacks coach Garrett Riley, though McWhorter spent the most time with offensive player development coach Tajh Boyd and Jordan Sorrells, the Tigers’ senior director of recruiting and player development.

“They told me they love how I play the game as a quarterback and my film looks great,” McWhorter said, “but to trust the process knowing that they don’t offer anyone until earliest of going to your junior season, which I totally understand.”

McWhorter owns an offer from Florida State and feels the Seminoles are showing the most interest at this point in his recruiting process but said “a lot of schools are showing a ton of interest.”

Along with the Noles, McWhorter has offers from Minnesota, Mississippi State, Vanderbilt, Troy, UAB and USF.

As McWhorter mentioned, Clemson typically doesn’t offer a prospect any earlier than the summer before their junior year. But even though he doesn’t currently have an offer from the Tigers, McWhorter said “they’re already in my top schools list even without the offer.”

If Dabo Swinney and company do come calling with an offer in the future, what would that mean to him?

“A Tiger offer would play a huge role in the process for me,” he said. “I can definitely see myself playing for Coach Swinney in Death Valley in the future!”
