Travis Etienne is ready to face former Clemson teammate Tee Higgins on Monday night when Etienne’s Jacksonville Jaguars battle Higgins’ Cincinnati Bengals.
“I haven’t talked to him much,” Etienne said of Higgins, via Jaguars reporter Mia O’Brien. “I was debating on if I should hit him up, should we hang out before the game or not, but I’m still debating it. But we kind of talk often, but I haven’t talked to him in the past week or so. Knowing the game’s coming up, I kind of want to – I know we’re brothers – but I kind of want to like be rivals this week, so just creating that edge I guess.”
Not only that, but Etienne is also looking to get some revenge Monday night against current Bengals and LSU alums Ja’Marr Chase and Joe Burrow, after their Bayou Bengals beat Etienne’s Tigers in the 2019 national title game.
“We definitely owe them. We definitely owe them,” Etienne said.
“That game… man,” Etienne added, shaking his head.
Burrow won’t be playing on Monday night as he’s out for the season with a torn wrist ligament, but Chase should be out there.
As for Higgins, he plans to play after missing the last three games with a hamstring injury, per Bengals reporter Mike Petraglia.
Etienne suffered a rib injury in Jacksonville’s win over Houston this past Sunday, though he did return and finish the game, and it sounds like he’ll be ready to go Monday night as well.
Kickoff of the “Monday Night Football” matchup between the Jags and Bengals in Jacksonville is set for 8:15 p.m. on ESPN/ABC.
