Former Clemson star and current Tennessee Titans receiver DeAndre Hopkins reached a major milestone in his NFL career this past Sunday.
During the Titans’ 31-28 overtime loss to the Indianapolis Colts, Hopkins hauled in an 18-yard pass in the second quarter to hit the 12,000-yard career receiving mark.
Hopkins, a five-time All-Pro and five-time Pro Bowler, became the 29th player in NFL history to achieve the aforementioned feat.
“I can’t look at that and take that lightly,” Hopkins said to reporters after the game. “That’s a big accomplishment. When I started playing this game, I can’t say I imagined being in that category. So, I got to thank all my quarterbacks who were a part of that 12,000, and all my coaches and just the teams that I’ve played on as well – Arizona, Houston.
“That’s something where obviously a year like this, it’s hard to see something good. But that’s a personal accomplishment that I’m pretty sure all receivers want to have one day, and just blessed, man, to be able to be in that position.”
The Titans fell to 4-8 on the season with Sunday’s loss, but Hopkins continued to be productive while leading his team with five receptions and 75 yards, including a touchdown.
Not only did Hopkins join the 12,000 yards club, but he also became the 25th player in NFL history to reach 900 career receptions.
Hopkins has 50 catches for 774 yards and five touchdowns this season, his first with the Titans.
In his NFL career (2013-23) with the Houston Texans, Arizona Cardinals and Titans, Hopkins has amassed 903 receptions, 12,072 receiving yards and 76 receiving touchdowns.
The 2013 first-round pick has caught a pass in every game he’s played since he came into the NFL. His 157-game streak with a reception is the longest active streak in the NFL and the fourth-longest in NFL history to begin a career.
