One of Clemson’s star pass rushers is set to compete in the country’s longest-running college all-star football game.
Sixth-year senior defensive end Xavier Thomas has accepted his invitation to play in the 2024 East-West Shrine Bowl.
Thomas will get the chance to showcase his talents to NFL scouts and a national television audience when the contest is held on Thursday, Feb. 1.
The 99th annual East-West Shrine Bowl is set to kick off at 8 p.m. ET at the Ford Center in Frisco, Texas, and will be televised on NFL Network.
In 11 games for the Tigers this season (10 starts), Thomas has tallied 26 tackles (3.0 for loss), two sacks, four pass breakups, a team-high 21 quarterback pressures and a fumble recovery.
The 6-foot-2, 245-pounder enters Clemson’s upcoming Gator Bowl bowl with 142 tackles (33.0 for loss), nine pass breakups, five forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries over 60 career games (29 starts).
Thomas, a former five-star prospect, received near-unanimous Freshman All-American acclaim in 2018 and has since earned multiple all-conference selections.
