Goodwin Says 2024 Class is All ‘Business’

The changing of the guard is arriving for the Clemson defense, but it doesn’t come without a lot of positives for defensive coordinator Wes Goodwin.

With a majority of the 2024 class coming for the defensive side, the Tigers get to reload on that side of the ball. It all starts with linebacker Sammy Brown, who is one of five defenders participating in bowl practice before enrolling in January.

Cornerbacks Tavoy Feagin and Corian Gilson as well as safety Ricardo Jones and defensive tackle Champ Thompson are with the team in Jacksonville. Goodwin detailed what it’s been like getting to know this group and already practice with them.

“I think it’s another great group. Excited to get the rest of them on campus here in the near future. Obviously we’ve got a few that are doing bowl practice with us now,” Goodwin said.

With the loss of a multitude of starters approaching, this head start is invaluable for the freshmen Tigers and spring ball will have the same importance.

Clemson always makes a focus on recruiting players who know how to win, and that’s no different with this group. The mountaintop is the goal and this group can help the Tigers return to it.

“Very business-like group,” Goodwin said. “Lot of them have competed for championships at the high school level. Come from great programs and just great character, great kids. Excited to get them going.”
