Swinney was asked on Kinard’s Video Comments

JACKSONVILLE — Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney was asked during Thursday’s Gator Bowl press conference about the latest video released by the Terry Kinard Family.

Kinard, a member of Clemson’s Ringer of Honor and an All-American safety on the Tigers’ 1981 National Championship Team, released a video with his son, Jaden Kinard, in response to Swinney’s comments last week.

Terry Kinard posted on Facebook last week that Jaden was treated unfairly by Swinney after his decision to transfer out of Clemson.

Swinney said in a release last week, “We just had an accountability run, coach Batson schedules these runs all throughout the year. Most of the teams didn’t have to run but one team did have to run several over and backs,” Swinney said. “There were about five or six guys who got their butts chewed out, and they earned it.”

“Football at this level is not for everybody. The discipline, accountability, and toughness, it’s hard at this level,” Swinney added.

The Kinard’s were not happy with Swinney’s response and released a seven-minute video on Facebook Wednesday with allegation’s that Swinney followed Jaden around practice and harassed him.

Swinney was asked during Thursday’s Gator Bowl press conference if he had a response to the latest allegations.

“I’ve already spoken on that,” Swinney said.
