Bresee Makes Saints Rookie History

The rookie season for a former Clemson Tiger continues to impress, and now he’s etched his name in the NFL history books. Bryan Bresee, drafted in the first round by the New Orleans Saints made franchise history in Week 17.

Bresee left his blocker in the dirt during the third quarter of the key game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and he barreled into the backfield, taking down Baker Mayfield to up his sack total to 4.5.

Following official records, Bresee holds the sack record but Saints Wire’s John Sigler noted that unofficial sack tracking has one player still ahead. Still, NFL records have Bresee at the top of the Saints’ rookie food chain.

For good measure, the record was achieved in 16 games so it wasn’t just a result of the 17-game season. Bresee continues to be a producer for New Orleans as it pushes playoff hopes into Week 18.
