Clemson has shown early interest in this talented young Peach State signal-caller, and he’s certainly interested in the Tigers as well.
Lanier Christian Academy (Flowery Branch, Ga.) class of 2026 quarterback CJ Britt, who visited Death Valley for the North Carolina game in November, is very high on Dabo Swinney’s program.
The 6-foot-1, 180-pound sophomore was attracted to Clemson by past quarterback greats, and he’s keeping his fingers crossed for a future offer from the Tigers.
“That would mean the world to me,” Britt said. “I’ve always loved Clemson since watching Tajh (Boyd) and Deshaun (Watson) and then eventually Trevor (Lawrence), and I’ve always loved Dabo Swinney as a coach. So, that would mean the world to me if Clemson offered.”
Along with visiting Clemson for the UNC game during the season, Britt has camped at Clemson in the past, and he’s come away from those experiences highly impressed by the coaching staff.
“I love the Clemson staff. I’ve been there twice, and it just feels like home,” he said. “They’re so opening and just willing to talk to anybody… The staff is so amazing, and they treat every person like their own child, so I just love the Clemson staff.”
Britt said he’s been able to have multiple conversations with Swinney and meet senior director of recruiting and player development Jordan Sorrells, as well as starting quarterback Cade Klubnik.
Britt is also building a relationship with former Clemson star quarterback and current offensive player development coach Tajh Boyd, who likes what Britt brings to the table as a QB.
“Tajh, he likes my playstyle, my quick release,” Britt said. “He likes my playmaking ability, pocket presence and being able to make a lot of throws, and then he likes my footwork also.”
Along with Clemson, Britt feels Georgia and Florida are showing the most interest early in his recruiting process.
Before being sidelined by a broken arm that he suffered in the fourth game of his 2023 sophomore season, Britt had been balling out while averaging 327 passing yards and five passing touchdowns per contest.
“I would say I’m a leader, and my playstyle is different,” he said, describing his game. “Humbly, I say like the (Patrick) Mahomes playstyle – the sidearms, the running out of the pocket, being able to make pocket plays and plays outside the pocket with my legs or making a downfield throw. And then my vision, I think I have really great vision and feel, and my arm’s really good also.”
Britt, a two-sport standout who also plays basketball, plans to participate in the Swinney Camp again this summer and return to Tiger Town during the 2024 season as well.
