The battle to land a legacy recruit continues, and the Clemson staff is making that effort every single day.

2025 four-star offensive lineman Mal Waldrep has been recruited by the Tigers for a long time, and he continues to become a larger commodity in the recruiting landscape. He received an offer last summer while he turned heads at the Dabo Swinney Camp.

Holding 19 offers, Clemson continues to stay near the top of the race to land the 6-foot-5 talent. Waldrep visited for the win over Georgia Tech, and the Tigers staff most recently made the trip to visit him and his family Wednesday.

I was very thankful that I’m a priority to them and getting speak with Coach Swinney about absolutely everything Clemson, we talked about how it’s getting real now, and I’m just soaking it all in,” Waldrep told the Clemson Insider.

Matt Luke is now a heavy part in Waldrep’s recruiting and that connection will heat up as the Clemson target will be in town for the Tigers’ junior day weekend.

The efforts to land Waldrep are clear, and this weekend is a key part in doing so. On top of that, he says Clemson is constantly in communication.

“I talk with at least one or two people on staff everyday and it’s nothing but positive things,” Waldrep said.

Swinney and Luke can take a large step in landing Waldrep over the weekend, and the legacy recruitment continues to ramp up into his senior season.
